Dora the Explorer: The Explosive Faux Trailer

CollegeHumor’s Favorite Funny Videos

Finally, Dora the Explorer in an action-packed live-action feature film with a hard boiled approach. At least that's what the creative team at CollegeHumor.com have come up with in this parody trailer. It stars Ariel Winter from 'Modern Family' as pistol-packing Dora.

'The Man with the Iron Fists' by RZA/Tarantino - Red Band Trailer

RZA and Tarantino Bring their Own Bloody Kung-Fu Flick

As a fan of old school kung-fu movies I was happy to hear that true historians of the genre were collaborating to bring their own spin on them. RZA and Quentin Tarantino have produced 'The Man with the Iron Fists'  and the trailer is out and doesn't look to disappoint.

Wu-Tang Clan co-founder and hip-hop Renaissance man RZA is set to make his directorial debut with the Quentin Tarantino-produced film The Man With the Iron Fists, and you can check out its blood-splattered trailer here. The movie stars Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu and RZA (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Eli Roth) and features a doozy of a soundtrack line-up: Kanye West, the Black Keys, Wiz Khalifa, Wu-Tang Clan and RZA himself. The two-minute Red Band trailer is rife with popcorn violence reminiscent of the B-grade kung-fu flicks that RZA has clearly been watching his whole life. In other words: no one's more qualified than him to make this movie. (RS)

Super Mario - 3D Chalk Art (Time Lapse)

by Denver-based artist Chris Carlson and photographer Mike Larremore

Chalk drawings really are an under-appreciated art form. Artists have been able to reproduce world famous paintings on sidewalks for years. The latest trend has been adding another dimension to chalk art. Producing 3-D drawings have been blowing the minds of observers. We featured one before  and there's been one in the news lately using Pac-Man.

Official 'Dark Knight Rises' Website Launches

After a slew of new trailers rolled out over the last month, several product tie-ins, a viral campaign, and soundtrack samples have been released comes the latest marketing venture for Warner Bros. 'The Dark Knight Rises'. The Official Dark Knight Rises website is now open for business. It features a synopsis of the film, wallpapers, downloadable stills, links for designing your own Tumbler and playing 'The Fire Rises' game.

New 'Dark Knight Rises' TV Spot Now with More Catwoman!

Another great TV spot for 'The Dark Knight Rises' has been released with more Catwoman scenes and dialogue with Batman. The more I see the more I'm convinced that Anne Hathaway was a good choice to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman. I was skeptical at first but it appears she has the presence and attitude that the role requires. I can't wait for July 20 to come fast enough.

'Dark Knight Rises' Trailer in LEGO

This brilliant scene-for-scene trailer mimics the original below with the use of LEGO. Paranick Filmz has done a series of these using Harry Potter and Indiana Jones as well as other Batman themes. It may not be the trailer we need but it certainly is the one we deserve. Enjoy and check out the original version for comparison.

Speed Painting Goku, Batman, Vegeta, Superman by Adrian Castillo

There seems to be a lot of these 'speed painting' videos around and I can understand why. The time-elapsed videos make the tedious and painstaking work of coloring and shading quicker and more interesting to watch especially with a kick ass soundtrack. Here is a great concept from Adrian Castillo (swave18).

How better to put 4 of my favorite characters from 2 different art styles in one drawing.
Goku and Superman have the same personality: Nice/kind peaceful outgoing
Vegeta and Batman have the same personality: Bad ass/Mean loner dark
I though of this idea a long time ago so I decided to finally do it!! put a Japanese art and American art together to make a Awesome Poster.

Art: 'Wonder Woman in Chains' by Jeff Chapman

by ~Jeffach

As you may have noticed, we at spartantown.com have an affinity for the legendary DC Comics Amazon Princess, Wonder Woman. Perhaps it's an unhealthy obsession but I don't know I'm not a psychologist. In any case we bring you another great digital art find in this piece by Jeff Chapman.

"Wonder Woman comics have often had her tied and bound in precarious situations. Probably due to her creator's kinky bondage fetish. So in tribute to that I did a chained up captive Wonder Woman."

The Caped Crusader (Batman Concept & Speed Painting) by Duks Abii

Some critics may not consider digital art an actual art form because of it's use of computers and software to aid in creating some mind-blowing illustrations but this time-elapsed video from Duks Abii  should dispel that notion. A lot of work takes place putting together the form, colors, shading and depth like any other medium of artwork. Instead of a brush, pencil, charcoal, or clay, digital artists use the same painstaking craftsmanship with the mouse of a computer. Please visit his site for more incredible illustrations.

New 'Dark Knight Rises' Notes and Possible Clue

The following notes comes from a wonderful interview with the 'The Dark Knight Rises' cast from French CineWebradio. (translated)

Christopher Nolan - Director

"I still have several months of work," explains the director, in a suit lanky, blond hair combed back. "We still have scenes to shoot in London. This is the longest story I've ever told, and it's exciting. It is rich and dense, and that's what I love. So for now, I just try to enjoy it . "
While Nolan said it was difficult to reduce history to a word or concept, " the starting point of the film deals with the consequences of our actions , "he says. "Many things happen in THE DARK KNIGHT and provide a satisfactory conclusion, and we try to show the effects of these events realistically and seriously. It is question of consequences, of redemption. The film is about all that and much more ".

Christian Bale - Batman/Bruce Wayne

Chris has always done perfectly coincide with his ideas of history and the direction he wants him to take , "says Bale. He then goes to the bottom of the characters, scratching the surface, digging their emotions and motivations, which creates the underlying themes throughout the saga . "

Throughout the saga, Alfred warns he may face problems , "says Bale. So it's just the crucial moment to see how long it will still leave this event to dominate his life. But can he give it up? Or is he hooked? "

Anne Hathaway - Selina Kyle/Catwoman

the character of Selina Kyle as " inherently reserved and very mysterious , "and the actress says in another interview, "She lives by his own code of honor, which sometimes leads to the act objectionable to people. I'm sure if you talk to him, she could explain. But it preserves his privacy. It does not reveal much. That's about all I can tell you of it without giving too much away . "

It's Catwoman , "she said impressed, "one of the most famous female characters from the comic, if not the most famous. But this is more amazing in this film Catwoman! I just love the cinema Chris Nolan and his two first albums, I was excited to be able to join. I'm really lucky that the role will be presented at a time when I was old enough to keep it " .
On the film in general, Anne Hathaway is just as positive. "J e think viewers will be surprised but absolutely delighted. I declare that, 'In Nolan we believe'  .

Tom Hardy - Bane

The fact is that Chris is able to create a comfortable and cozy to shoot ... but it's a challenge to work with him because he can suddenly decide that we must reverse a truck for true! You never know what to expect. And in such films, pressures abound. It's like making a stress test on a brand new fighter. You stress out about the idea of do crash. But ultimately, if I had chosen not to stress myself, I would not have done my job properly "

Bane is a sacred number , "said Hardy. It is not there to laugh. He is there to do what he has to do and it is certainly not frivolous or there to enjoy themselves. From the outset it is very brutal, very aggressive , and he loves to use weapons . "

Joseph Gordon-Levitt - John Blake

I think for the people of Western culture, Batman is a sacred figure and iconic " says the actor. "So, needless to say I was excited to be part of the adventure and j 'was extremely curious to see what he would invent. And I can not say in detail why, but I have not been disappointed. And it feels like a final chapter ".
The young actor plays J ohn Blake , a Gotham police officer who proved to the Commissioner Gordon and becomes one of its most reliable allies. It also has something in common with Bruce Wayne, because, like him, he is an orphan.

This is where it gets a little more interesting. So this 'John Blake' character is a cop who is also an orphan like Bruce Wayne who is also Batman and who legendarily (in the comics)  had a sidekick by the name of Dick Grayson who was also an orphan. Coincidence? You decide.

'Dark Knight Rises' Busts Through in New Billboard

Some of the great things about the marketing folks at Warner Bros. are their innovation and creativity. We all know about their viral campaigns, corporate sponsorships and trailers. It was good to see that they haven't forgotten about old school marketing structures like billboards. And WB knows how to bring their brilliance to an old standard too. Here is a bat emblem that has exploded through the billboard all the while keeping the upcoming movie release date in clear view. Only a highly anticipated blockbuster with innovative marketing campaigns can get the blogs going with imagination like this.

Pixar Artist Makes Your Favorite Violent Movies Into a Children's Book

Josh Cooley, a Pixar illustrator, has taken some very well known R-rated films and created a faux-children's book. These are just some of the memorable scenes converted into the kid-friendly pages of a child's tome. The artwork appears on his website and is available for sale. The work has also been bound into an actual book .

The Dark Knight Rises - Bane Vs Batman portrait by Barry Jazz (video)

This time-elapsed video shows the incredible work by Barry Jazz Finnegan on a large scale charcoal portrait of Bane face-to-face with Batman from the upcoming 'The Dark Knight Rises' movie, opening July 20th. Please enjoy the artistry.

Art: JLA Pencils by Ryan Benjamin

Ryan Benjamin is a talented comic book artist and this Justice League piece proves why. The scowling faces adds a tough and intimidating dimension to the 'Super Friends'. Seeing the raw pencil work is always interesting because of the attention to detail that it involves. The intricate scales of Aqua-Man, the shading on Batman's cowl and cape, and the intentionally messy hair-do's of Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. Definitely an artist and creator to watch. Keep up with Ryan on Facebook.
