REVIEW: They're Not Like Us #1 by Eric Stephenson and Simon Gane

They're Not Like Us #1 by Eric Stephenson and Simon Gane have taken a well-worn premise of young people with powers gathered together for their own protection and have made a mysterious and potentially sinister team of anti-heroes. It's not exactly clear what the man known as The Voice, as in the voice in their heads, has in store for new recruit Syd who tried to kill herself to stop the voices in her own head. It's easy to compare to that other band of youngsters with powers who live and train in a mansion but there's something more unnerving and dubious going on than we're lead to believe.

Cardboard and Imagination Fuels This 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Low-Tech Trailer

Perhaps you don't have the freedom of Disney to spend millions of dollars on special effects, props, actors, sound, and just about everything else to make a Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. Luckily, the clever guys at Dumb Drum of Fresno, California didn't let something as trivial as money get in the way of making a kick-ass and uproarious trailer of their own using cardboard and their mouths for sound effects.

This hold possession thing could actually work out after all. The new season will also focus on a big villain presumably Helen McCrory’s Madame Kali. Prepare for 10 more new episodes in 2015.

Salma Hayek is a Killing Machine in New Trailer for 'Everly'

Coming off as a cross between Lucy and Kill Bill, the Everly trailer features Salma Hayek in a nightgown mowing down bad guys in a flurry of gunfire. The Joe Lynch directed actioner takes on a first-shooter view at times as Hayek tries to shoot her way out of an apartment to save her mother and daughter from the army of assassins sent to kill her by her former lover/mob boss. We're sold already.

Before 'Suicide Squad', Will Smith and Margot Robbie are Con Artists in 'Focus' (Trailer)

Will Smith and Margot Robbie play con artists in Warner Bros thriller Focus. We'll get a feel for how they'll play off each other before appearing again in the star-studded comic book adaptation, Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayers. The full length trailer includes some steamy and funny scenes between them in what looks like a stylish thrilling con movie. The supporting cast is pretty stellar too. See the trailer below.

Mike Colter Officially Announced as Luke Cage in 'Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones' Netflix Series

It was no secret that Marvel was high on Mike Colter (The Good Wife, Halo: Nightfall) to star as Luke Cage for their Netflix series AKA Jessica Jones as well as his own titular show. Chemistry testing with various actresses led to Krysten Ritter being cast as Jessica Jones with only Colter's deal remaining. Looks like it's a done deal with official word coming from Marvel. Archie Comics is evolving and coming on strong for 2015 as they diversify their offerings to appeal to new audiences. Along with an expected relaunch of an updated Archie book with Mark Waid and Fiona Staples and a new live-action television show the legendary publisher already has an acclaimed best-selling horror series with Afterlife with Archie. Their Dark Circle imprint will feature a crime series, The Black Hood, and superhero title, The Fox. Look to Archie for the newest, freshest comics on the market.

Orphan Black is returning to BBC America for season three and even though the premiere is four months away they've released a new trailer to whet your appetite. The freshly nominated for a SAG Award for actress in a TV drama, Tatiana Maslany is back and ready to face off against co-star Ari Millen in a war of clones. They come head-to-head in a Dyad prison cell and the teaser features a glance at Sarah, Cosima and Helena.

REVIEW: Wytches #3 by Scott Snyder, Jock and Matt Hollingsworth

Wytches has been a suspenseful journey into fears many people share. It’s been more of a psychological thriller than an outright gore-fest and that’s just fine as we get to know these characters intimately and share their anxiety and terror. As a parent there’s no greater fear than have a child missing especially one who has gone through such traumatic experiences as Sailor has. Everything that surrounds her disappearance just adds to the suspense. Scott Snyder is tightening the screws on his readers psyche and Jock and Matt Hollingsworth are expediting your journey through a psychedelic spiral of colors and doom. We wouldn't expect anything less from this talented group of creators.

'Suicide Squad' May Have Found Amanda Waller in Viola Davis

We may not get the chance to see Oprah command Task Force X after all. According to Latino Review, Viola Davis has won out over Oprah Winfrey and Octavia Spencer for the role of Amanda Waller in David Ayer's adaptation of DC Comics' Suicide Squad.

The Flash: Nicholas Gonzalez Cast as Cisco's Brother Dante

The Flash has been busy casting for the second half of their smashing first season. Earlier it was reported that Peyton List from CW's ill-fated The Tomorrow People and AMC's Mad Men was cast as Captain Cold's sister, Lisa Snart. Now comes news that Nicholas Gonzalez formerly of Fox's Sleepy Hollow will be playing Cisco Ramon's older brother, Dante.

REVIEW: Goners #3 by Jacob Semahn and Jorge Corona

It's really a remarkable achievement that Goners keeps such a frenetic pace as young Zoe and Josiah Latimer evade monsters while searching for answers as to why their family would be marked for extinction. Jacob Semahn briefly pauses the action to insert some flashbacks that don't deter from the story but actually add depth and additional character development. It's quite a feat considering the number of characters that populate the book on a monthly basis. Goners #3 is still the high octane paranormal adventure that we saw in Goners #1 but we've learned a lot more about the Latimers and especially their man-servant Francis.

Arrow Review (S3E9): 'The Climb'

What a mid-season finale! In a season that was uneven at times only to be redeemed with spectacular moments and one hell of a crossover event with The Flash the finale proved once again that comic book television doesn't get any better than Arrow.

Afterlife with Archie is back with a second arc to the brilliant horror series featuring the gang from Riverdale. The innocent charm of Archie, Jughead, and Betty was turned upside down by a zombie apocalypse that was brought on by Sabrina's forbidden spell. It was a shocking approach for the traditionally saccharin band of schoolmates but writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has created a truly terrifying book as seen through familiar eyes and masterfully illustrated by Francesco Francavilla.

REVIEW: Bitch Planet #1 by Kelly DeConnick and Valentine De Landro

Let’s start with Bitch Planet #1 being an exceptional piece of science fiction exploitative pulp that transcends the genre and raises a double-middle finger to the trappings of oppressive patriarchy. It is a blunt exploration of a world a lot like ours except it doesn't pretend to hide its overt sexism and misogyny. It not only embraces the inequality of women as humans but mandates by law that they are compliant. Whatever the male-run powers to be deem compliant and if a woman has the gall to become obese or unattractive then they get a one-way ticket along with real criminals to the Auxiliary Compliance Outpost aka Bitch Planet.

'The Flash' Review (S1E9): 'The Man in the Yellow Suit'

The Flash mid-season finale gave us some answers, more questions and a better look at 'The Man in the Yellow Suit.' The packed episode even gave us the introduction of Ronnie Raymond who was nice enough to provide his own moniker (sorry, Cisco) as Firestorm. And Barry revealed his true feelings to Iris as she'd already decided to take the next step with Eddie and move-in together. Even with all the action going on the show it was still anchored by the compassion and emotions of its characters.
