If you’re a Marvel fan, you may have come across the term “deviants” while watching the recent movie Eternals. Deviants are a race of genetically engineered monsters that were created by the Celestials to help them in their mission to create life throughout the universe.
But did you know that deviants have also appeared in other Marvel movies? Let’s take a look at where they’ve popped up.
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
The first appearance of deviants in a Marvel movie was actually in The Incredible Hulk, which was released in 2008. In this movie, Bruce Banner (played by Edward Norton) is being hunted by General Ross (played by William Hurt) and his team as they try to capture him and use his gamma radiation for military purposes.
During one of their encounters, Ross’ team uses a device called the Sonic Cannon to subdue Banner. However, this device not only affects Banner but also awakens a creature that has been lying dormant beneath the ground. This creature is later revealed to be a deviant known as the Abomination (played by Tim Roth).
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
In addition to The Incredible Hulk, deviants have also made an appearance on the small screen in Marvel’s Agents of S. In season 6 of the show, we are introduced to Izel (played by Karolina Wydra), an alien who is searching for a group of artifacts known as the Di’Allas.
However, it is soon revealed that Izel is actually a member of an ancient race known as the Shrike who were created by beings known as “The Creator.” The Shrike are essentially deviants who have been sent out into the universe to destroy worlds and prepare them for The Creator’s arrival.
Of course, the most recent and prominent appearance of deviants in a Marvel movie is in Eternals. In this movie, we see a group of immortal beings known as the Eternals who were created by the Celestials to protect humanity from their evil counterparts, the deviants.
As the story progresses, we learn that the deviants were not always evil but were in fact created by the Celestials to be their ultimate weapon. However, over time, they evolved beyond their intended purpose and began to develop their own consciousness and desires.
So there you have it – deviants have made appearances in a few different Marvel movies and TV shows over the years. While they may not be as well-known as some of Marvel’s other villains like Thanos or Loki, they still play an important role in the overall mythology of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Whether or not we’ll see more deviants in future movies remains to be seen, but for now, fans can enjoy watching them wreak havoc on our favorite heroes on both the big and small screen.
