Are There Any Marvel Movies Missing From Disney Plus?

Have you been binge-watching Marvel movies on Disney Plus and noticed that some of your favorite films are missing? Well, you’re not alone.

Since acquiring Marvel Studios, Disney has been steadily adding their entire catalog of Marvel films to the streaming platform. However, there are still a few missing titles that have left fans scratching their heads.

What Marvel movies are missing from Disney Plus?

As of now, there are three major Marvel movies that are not available on Disney Plus. These include:

  • The Incredible Hulk: This 2008 film starring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner is the only MCU movie not available on Disney Plus. This may be due to Universal Pictures owning the distribution rights to the character.
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home: These two MCU films featuring Tom Holland as Spider-Man are also not currently available on Disney Plus. This is likely because Sony Pictures owns the rights to the Spider-Man character and has a deal with Disney to allow them to use Spider-Man in their films.

Why aren’t these movies available on Disney Plus?

As mentioned above, distribution rights and ownership issues seem to be the main reasons why these films are not currently available on Disney Plus. The Incredible Hulk was distributed by Universal Pictures and while Marvel Studios produced the film, they do not have full ownership of the character.

The Spider-Man situation is a bit more complicated. While Sony Pictures owns the rights to Spider-Man and his associated characters, they struck a deal with Marvel Studios in 2015 that allowed them to use Spider-Man in their films. However, this deal does not extend to streaming rights which is why Homecoming and Far From Home are not currently available on Disney Plus.

Will these movies ever be available on Disney Plus?

It’s hard to say for sure whether these missing Marvel movies will ever be added to Disney Plus. The rights and ownership issues surrounding these films make it difficult for Disney to acquire them for streaming.

However, it’s not impossible. Disney has previously struck deals with other studios to acquire distribution rights for their content.

Final Thoughts

While it’s disappointing that some of our favorite Marvel movies are missing from Disney Plus, there are still plenty of other films and TV shows available to enjoy. Hopefully, Disney will be able to work out the distribution rights and ownership issues surrounding these missing movies so that we can add them to our watchlist in the future.
