Does Netflix Have Any Marvel Movies?

Are you a Marvel fan looking for your favorite superhero movies on Netflix? Well, the answer to whether Netflix has any Marvel movies is both yes and no.

What Marvel movies are available on Netflix?
Netflix does have some Marvel content available for streaming, but it isn’t the blockbuster movies that we all know and love. Instead, Netflix has produced its own Marvel TV series, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders.

Daredevil: This series follows the story of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer who fights crime as a vigilante in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen.

Jessica Jones: Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica Jones, a former superhero who starts her detective agency after escaping from an abusive relationship with Kilgrave (David Tennant).

Luke Cage: Mike Colter plays Luke Cage, a man with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin who becomes a hero for hire in Harlem.

Iron Fist: Finn Jones stars as Danny Rand, a billionaire who returns to New York City after being presumed dead for 15 years. He has the ability to channel his chi into his fist making it super strong.

The Punisher: Jon Bernthal plays Frank Castle, a former Marine Corps sniper turned vigilante after his family is murdered by criminals.

The Defenders: This series brings together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to form a team of unlikely heroes who must fight against their common enemy—The Hand.

Why aren’t the Marvel movies on Netflix?
The reason why you won’t find any of the Avengers or Spider-Man movies on Netflix is that they are licensed to other streaming services or owned by different studios. For example:

  • The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Thor: Ragnarok are available on Disney+
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home are available on Starz
  • X-Men series is owned by 20th Century Fox

What about the future of Marvel content on Netflix?
Unfortunately, the future isn’t very bright for Marvel content on Netflix. With Disney launching their own streaming service, Disney+, they have started pulling all their Marvel content from other streaming services, including Netflix. So eventually, all the Marvel shows produced by Netflix will disappear from the platform.

The Bottom Line

While Netflix does have some Marvel content available for streaming, it isn’t the blockbuster movies that we all know and love. Instead, it’s a collection of TV series that delve deeper into specific characters’ storylines. If you’re a die-hard fan looking to watch all the Marvel movies in one place, you’ll need to subscribe to multiple streaming services or wait for them to become available on Disney+.
