What Happened to the Comic Strip Get Fuzzy?

If you’re a fan of the comic strip Get Fuzzy, you may have noticed that it’s been a while since you’ve seen a new strip. In fact, the last new strip was published back in 2018. So what happened to the beloved comic strip?

The Beginning of Get Fuzzy

Get Fuzzy was created by Darby Conley in 1999. It quickly gained popularity for its quirky humor and relatable characters.

The strip follows the adventures of Rob Wilco, who owns a pet cat named Bucky and a pet dog named Satchel. Bucky is mischievous and often causes trouble, while Satchel is kind-hearted but not always the brightest.

The Decline of Get Fuzzy

Despite its initial success, Get Fuzzy began to decline in popularity in the mid-2000s. Some fans felt that the humor had become repetitive and predictable, while others simply lost interest over time.

In addition to this, Conley began to experience health issues that made it difficult for him to continue producing new strips at a regular pace. His output became sporadic, with long gaps between new strips.

The End of Get Fuzzy

Finally, in 2018, Conley announced that he would be ending Get Fuzzy. He cited his health issues as one reason for this decision, as well as a desire to focus on other projects.

Fans were disappointed by this news but understood why Conley had made this decision. The final strip was published on August 26th, 2018.

The Legacy of Get Fuzzy

Although it’s no longer being produced, Get Fuzzy still has a loyal fanbase who continue to enjoy the existing strips and merchandise like t-shirts and coffee mugs featuring their favorite characters.

In addition to this, Conley has gone on to pursue other projects such as writing children’s books and creating a new comic strip called Kliban’s Cats.

In the end, the decline and eventual end of Get Fuzzy can be attributed to a combination of factors including changing audience tastes and the creator’s health issues. However, it remains a beloved comic strip that will be remembered for its unique humor and lovable characters.
