What Marvel Movies Is Shang-Chi In?

Shang-Chi is a character from the Marvel Comics Universe who made his debut in 1973. He is a skilled martial artist who possesses the ability to create duplicates of himself. Over the years, he has become a fan favorite and has been featured in several Marvel movies.

Shang-Chi’s Debut

Shang-Chi made his first appearance in Marvel Comics in December 1973, in “Special Marvel Edition” #15. The character was created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin.

In the comics, Shang-Chi is the son of the villainous Fu Manchu, who trains him to be a deadly martial artist. However, Shang-Chi eventually discovers that his father is evil and turns against him.

Shang-Chi in the Movies

Shang-Chi has appeared in several Marvel movies over the years:

1. Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher (2014)

While this movie isn’t technically part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it does feature Shang-Chi as one of the main characters. In this animated film, Shang-Chi teams up with Black Widow and Punisher to take down a terrorist organization.

2. Kim’s Convenience (2016-2021)

Again not an MCU movie but worth mentioning that Simu Liu played Jung Kim on this Canadian sitcom which was very popular with audiences.

3. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

This is Shang-Chi’s first solo movie and his official introduction into the MCU. The film follows Shang-Chi as he confronts his past and battles his father, Wenwu, who is also known as The Mandarin.

The movie stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Awkwafina as his friend Katy, and Tony Leung as Wenwu. It was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.


Shang-Chi is a beloved character in the Marvel Comics Universe and has made several appearances in movies over the years.
