In recent years, Marvel movies have become a dominant force in the entertainment industry, with superhero characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man captivating audiences worldwide.
Many people may not realize that not all Marvel movies were made by Disney, which acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009. Let’s take a closer look at some of the Marvel movies that were not made by Disney.
Spider-Man Trilogy (2002-2007)
The first three Spider-Man movies, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, were produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Entertainment. These movies were released before Disney acquired Marvel and therefore are not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
X-Men Series (2000-2019)
The X-Men series is one of the longest-running superhero movie franchises ever made. The series, which includes 13 films, was produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment. Like the Spider-Man trilogy, these films are separate from the MCU.
The Fantastic Four Series (2005-2015)
The Fantastic Four is another superhero team from Marvel Comics that has had multiple film adaptations over the years. The two most recent films were produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment. Unfortunately, both films received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Blade Trilogy (1998-2004)
Blade is a lesser-known Marvel character who has appeared in several films over the years. The first Blade movie was released in 1998 and starred Wesley Snipes as the titular character. The second and third movies were also produced by New Line Cinema and Marvel Entertainment.
Daredevil is a Netflix original series based on the comic book character of the same name. The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, a blind lawyer who fights crime in Hell’s Kitchen. The series was produced by Netflix and Marvel Television, which is a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment.
While Disney has produced many successful Marvel movies in recent years, it’s important to remember that not all Marvel movies were made by Disney. The Spider-Man trilogy, X-Men series, Fantastic Four series, Blade trilogy, and Daredevil are just a few examples of Marvel movies that were produced by other studios but still hold a special place in the hearts of many superhero fans.
