Batman / Batman Joker

Which Batman Has Jim Carrey as the Joker?

If you’re a fan of Batman, you’re probably familiar with the various iterations of the character that have graced both the big and small screens over the years. From Michael Keaton to Christian Bale, there have been plenty of actors who have taken on the mantle of the Dark Knight. However, one of the most memorable Batman films also features one of the most iconic portrayals of his arch-nemesis, the Joker – played by none other than Jim Carrey.

The film I’m referring to is none other than “Batman Forever,” which was released in 1995. In this movie, we see Val Kilmer take up the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne, who must face off against two villains – Two-Face (played by Tommy Lee Jones) and the Riddler (played by Jim Carrey).

Carrey’s portrayal of the Riddler is one for the ages. He brings his signature manic energy to the role, delivering lines with a frenzied intensity that perfectly captures the character’s obsession with puzzles and riddles. His performance is complemented by a truly over-the-top costume that includes a shock of red hair and an array of green question marks.

But what about Carrey’s other iconic role as a Batman villain – that of the Joker? As it turns out, Carrey has never actually played this character on screen. While he certainly would have brought his own unique spin to Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime, it was ultimately not meant to be.

Instead, we’ve seen several other actors take on this iconic role over the years. Jack Nicholson famously played him in Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman” film, while Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his chilling portrayal in “The Dark Knight.” More recently, Joaquin Phoenix earned critical acclaim for his turn as Arthur Fleck in “Joker.”

So while we may never get to see Jim Carrey as the Joker, we can still appreciate his incredible performance as the Riddler in “Batman Forever.” With its colorful visuals, bombastic action sequences, and unforgettable performances, it remains a beloved entry in the Batman film canon.
